Welcome to Class 4's Web Page
Welcome to the Class 4 web page. Through clicking on the tabs below you will find a copy of our latest curriculum guide so that you know what your child is learning about this term, a handy reminder of what your child needs for each day so that you can help them to be as prepared as they can be and a Home Learning tab for you to know what learning is expected to be carried out at home.
The Class 4 team this year are Miss Chiddy, Mrs Nowland and Miss Linnert. Each morning as you drop your child off at the rear door to the school, a member of staff will be on the door to briefly answer any general questions you have or to pass a message on to the class team for them to either discuss the issue with you at the end of the school day or make a mutually convenient appointment for a longer discussion if needed.
We will be taking part in a wide variety of learning activities throughout the school year and we will do our very best to add photos and write-ups of all of these wonderful experiences below so that you can enjoy sharing in your child's learning...
Imperial War Museum
On Friday, Class 4 visited the Imperial War Museum, London, to enhance our learning in topic. We received a talk from two people who had experienced conflict throughout their lives. Lee had served in the army and Rose was a WW2 evacuee. Their stories were intriguing and gave us all lots to think about. After the talk, we explored the museum where we saw a range of primary sources that raised lots of questions and discussion and lots that linked to our previous learning. Highlights included experiences what it felt like to be in an Anderson shelter and in the WW1 trenches.
On Wednesday 19th October, Years 4,5 & 6 took part in the North Herts School Sports Partnership Olympic/Paralympic legacy event. The day started with all schools involved joining together for an Olympic torch relay, with a real Paralympic torch.
Then groups joined their group leaders to settle into their event for the day. These included boccia, handball, sitting volleyball, table tennis, dance and wheelchair basketball. We also had school reporters who interviewed various competitors throughout the day and a design and create activity, during which two fantastic t-shirts were made.
The event ended with a dance performance and medal ceremonies. A great day was had by all and there were many displays of superb sportsmanship, perseverance and teamwork.
