Reflections on the Week...

Good afternoon Parents and Carers

It is a little early, and although we are still in spring, it felt as though there was a hint of summer in the air this week and all that summer brings with it!

This week saw the return of summer sports with a tri-golf tournament and our first cricket match of the new season. Our Year 3 and 4 golfers did very well this week and had a lot of fun taking part in the rural schools tri-golf tournament. They took on a variety of challenges and supported their teammates throughout the morning. All of our willing golfers gained a medal at the end of the morning, but spending the morning outside in the fresh air and taking part in a sporting competition with other schools was the real prize! Then, on Wednesday afternoon in their first match of the year, our cricketers were in action against Purwell here at the school. They did very well, getting off to a winning start by a total of 49 runs! A great way to kick off the summer cricket league!

Summer is also a time when people come together and, although as a school we look to create opportunities for our school community to do exactly this throughout all of the seasons across the school year, there is always something nicer about gathering together in the summer. The first of those took place this week across the school this week with our class curriculum coffee mornings, which culminates with the Peacocks coffee morning on Wednesday next week. It was great to see so many of you in attendance for those, but for those of you who couldn't make it the curriculum guides are all available by clicking here and selecting your child's class page.

Next week, however, is the big one! On Friday afternoon we are inviting all of you and your families to join us for an afternoon of eating, drinking, smiling and socialising together as a school and local community in the school field. There will be craft activities and sports activities and plenty more for the children (and you) to enjoy as we hold our community Coronation celebration! The fun will start for the children at lunchtime with a street party, and the Friends of Wymondley will then be joining us as we look forward to welcoming all of you and members of our local community from 3.00 pm, with the children joining once school finishes at 3:15 pm. I really hope you can join us, with your picnic blanket if you have one, for a great afternoon to kick off the Coronation weekend! An event where our local and school community comes together, where we will all gather together outside and, whisper it quietly... but at the moment, a sunny day with temperatures potentially as high as 17 degrees! Now that sounds like more than a hint of summer to me!

I wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable weekend!
