Reflections on the Week...
Good afternoon Parents and Carers,
One week into the second half of the summer term and summer has finally arrived! It turns out that the secret to sporting success at Wymondley is all linked to the weather, as our cricket and rounders teams excelled in action this week! I am reliably informed by Mr Sinclair that our cricketers put in a terrific performance at Pirton on Monday, having a great time and winning by a healthy margin. Then, in the blazing sun yesterday afternoon, our rounders team put in some amazing performances, coming third in the tournament, with one of the highlights being a 48-48 draw with the eventual champions. Well done to all of our sporting heroes!
On Tuesday our super little Puffins and Toucans must have been super-charged by the sun as they got off the coach and walked across the field to Hitchin Swimming Pool because, as soon as they entered the pool, fantastic things happened! They were brave, fully committed and tried so hard. All of the adults watching, including me, were incredibly proud of each and every one of them!
We are hoping the good weather is here to stay because as well Sports Day, that takes place on Monday 26th June, the Wymondley Woods Day for Puffins and Toucans, that takes place on Monday 17th July, and the Wymondley Woods Day for Peacocks and Eagles, that takes place on Tuesday 18th July, we also have the Peacocks residential coming up soon as well! On Thursday 29th June our Peacocks will be spending one night and two days at Wymondley Woods and, although they will of course have a fantastic time whatever the weather, there is nothing better than a sunny summer evening there! We look forward to seeing as many of our Peacocks parents and carers as possible for the Wymondley Woods residential meeting, this coming Monday evening at the school at 6pm.
Finally this week, staying safe online has never been more important. Earlier this week, Eagles and Peacocks took part in a live assembly hosted by Google Education focusing on just that. It taught children about the 5 aspects of the Internet Legends Code and how this helps them to stay safe online. You can watch a parent version of the assembly by clicking here. There is also a free online game called 'Interland' that children can play to help them apply these skills which can be accessed by clicking here.
I wish you all a relaxing and very enjoyable weekend ahead in the hot, hot sun! However you choose to enjoy it, please make sure that if you are out and about, that you remember the sun cream, water and hats.
