Forest School

We love Forest School!

We are pleased to be able to give pupils across all classes the opportunity to participate in Wymondley Forest School each term. These outdoor learning sessions will all be run by Mrs Pearson, and we believe that they will be of huge benefit to the children.

Here's what the children think:

'It’s good because you are away from technology.'

'There is so much to do and see outside.'

'I love forest school because it is out in nature.'

'You can associate with the world outside instead of being stuck inside.'

Forest School Helpers

Our team of Forest School helpers continue to meet regularly to work on maintaining and improving our site. This year we have been laying a new hedge, planting wild flower turf and creating a firepit area.

2022 - 2023

Forest School Helpers

Our Forest School Helpers are a group of pupils, parents and governors who meet regularly with Mrs Pearson to help maintain and develop our Forest School area. So far we have planted saplings and bulbs, mowed pathways and cleared out the pond.

2021 - 2022

On Saturday 4th December 2021, we ran our first volunteer work party to carry out some maintenance work on our Forest School site. We cleared the area around the pond, created a composting area, weeded around the saplings previously planted by the children and planted a further 60 saplings to create hedge areas.

We have continued to run these volunteer work parties once every half term and are working towards creating a paved path alongside the pond which will lead to a shelter for carrying out pond dipping activities. We have also been clearing ivy off existing trees and clearing weeds to allow for new growth.

A huge thank you to the parents, children and governors who gave up their time to come and help out!
