    Christmas Cushions in Class 2!

The festive creativity continued into the last day in Class 2 with the completion of their festive cushions. All of the children's efforts with their sewing at different times over the last month were rewarded just in time for Christmas as all of the cushions were stuffed with fluff just in time to be taken home for the big day. Thanks to Mrs B for making all of this possible! A lovely treat for the children to take home and a great skill for them to learn!

  • Little Wymondley Nativity Walk

    Little Wymondley Nativity Walk

There is nothing better than a community coming together at Christmas time and that is exactly what happened on Monday 18th December as many of the local residents came together with local school families to walk through the village stopping along the way for a selection of readings and carols. We began our journey at Wymondley JMI School, with our final destination being the church and a chance for everyone to reflect on what Christmas is all about and of course to sing a few more Christmas carols!

Many thanks to Reverend Ginni and Mrs Bacon for organising this event and of course to those donkeys who really do make this festive event as special as it is each year!

  • Christmas Dinner!

Wed 13 Dec 2017 Mr Plunkett

    Christmas Dinner!

What a joy it was to see the whole school in our school hall on Wednesday 13th December enjoying a Christmas dinner or packed lunch together! Many of the children had created their own Christmas hats for the occasion and many others were wearing hats from crackers. Many thanks to all of the staff for serving the children throughout the meal. With Christmas music filling the hall, a good time was had by all!

Many thanks to Mrs Maddox and Mrs Burnett for making this possible - Cooking a Christmas dinner for over a hundred children that tastes as good as that one did is no easy task! Thank you both.

  • PTA Wrap-a-Present

Wed 13 Dec 2017 Mr Plunkett

    PTA Wrap-a-Present

Thank you to everyone that was involved in the Wrap-a-Present days this year. It was a very successful event with an incredible amount of children taking part. Whether you were one of the organisers or one of those helping out, you have given so many of our children the chance to choose their very own present for someone they care for this Christmas. I am sure that when the big day finally arrives, they will experience the joy of giving and I would like to thank you on behalf of the school for giving them that.

Thank you to everyone involved in the PTA for taking the time to organise and host all of the events and initiatives that you have organised this term.

  • Let is Snow!!

Tue 12 Dec 2017 Mr Plunkett

    Let it Snow!

A seasonal treat took place this year and many of our children arrived in school ready to take full advantage of it on Tuesday 12th December wearing snow boots or wellies. At break time and lunchtime they were outside on the field enjoying the crunching sound and new found opportunities that a school field covered in snow presents!

  • Christmas Production of 'Hey Ewe'

    Christmas Production of 'Hey Ewe'

Congratulations to all of the children in Class 1 and 2 that were involved in our festive production of 'Hey Ewe' this year. Two amazing performances took place on Thursday this week and we couldn't have been prouder! Thank you so very much to all of the staff that were involved and to our parents, for all of your support, in helping to create such a memorable event.

Our cast had this to say about it all...

"It was good, I liked saying my line."

"I liked it when we walked off the stage when we took Heer, the curious sheep, around the hall."

"I got to say a lot of lines and I really liked it when we sang 'Hey Ewe', but I also liked 'Calypso Kings' as that was a great song too!"

"I liked being a king because I brought gold and my favourite song was 'A baby is born."

"The best thing about being the Curious Sheep was singing, 'Something's going on' and saying my lines. I felt kind of nervous and excited!"

"My best part was saying my lines because it made me feel excited."

"I was a sheep and I liked doing my dance because I liked doing lots of things, like the singing and dancing."

Carol Singing at Wymondley Nursing Home

Our school choir were in fantastic voice this afternoon at the Wymondley Nursing Home singing a range of Christmas Carols for the residents to enjoy.

A wonderful opportunity that we gratefully accepted to give something back to the community at this festive time of year.

Well done to every member of our school choir who brought a little joy to others this afternoon.

  • Greek Day in Class 4

Tue 05 Dec 2017 Mr Plunkett

    Greek Day in Class 4

The children in Class 4 had a fantastic day on Tuesday this week as they enjoyed a day packed full of Greek activities to celebrate the learning that has taken place through their current topic.

The children, many of whom were dressed up for the occasion in a variety of yoga designs, learnt how to write in Greek, made their own terracotta clay Greek pots, designed their own pots, made and created a range of Greek cuisine and even took a part in their own Greek Olympic activities!

A great day full of enjoyment and learning to end a wonderful topic with!

  • Christmas Coding!

Mon 04 Dec 2017 Mr Plunkett

    Christmas Coding!

Our Year 5 & 6 children have been working hard developing their understanding of coding this term. Their latest project was to programme the sequence of their own Christmas lights. The effect of so many Christmas trees with completely different light sequences, all individually programmed and taking place simultaneously was stunning! Huge thanks to Mrs Morris and Mr Pell's for giving the children this wonderful experience. I understand that plans are already well underway for a spring term project!

  • Gambia Project Playground

Fri 01 Dec 2017 Mr Plunkett

    1st December

    The Gambia Project Playground

The children in Classes 2, 3 & 4 all took part in designing a playground that could be built close to our link school in The Gambia. The designs were well thought out and innovative and showed just how much the children of Wymondley JMI School care about our global community.

The designs that were produced were passed on to The Gambia Project Committee outside of school, who made the final decision on which design would be taken forward to be built for the children in our link school to use. Such was the quality of the entries that the final design has taken aspects of a series of designs, which you can view below.

Well done to all of the children for producing such well thought out designs and congratulations to those children whose deigns were chosen. The Wymondley JMI School playground will now be built in The Gambia during 2018 and our school based committee will now be hard at work planning out how we can raise the £500 needed to make the children's designs a reality which will make such a difference to so many young children.
