    Wymondley Summer Concert

Thursday evening saw our first summer concert take place. There was class singing and performances from the choir to hear and enjoy, as well as instrumental solos on the ukulele, the piano, the violin and group recorder performances too!

Thank you to all of our wonderful parents for your support and congratulations to all of our talented performers for making our first musical concert as successful as it was.

  • Wymondley Woods

    Class 3 at Wymondley Woods

Our trip to Wymondley Woods got off to a great start with a lovely walk through fields and across trails, meeting lots of wildlife and enjoying the picturesque setting. There was even the chance to wave at a passing train!

The children have now settled in to their rooms, have eaten lunch and are enjoying their new surroundings...

This afternoon has started with den building and art activities inclyding creating our very own Class 3 Wymondley Woods bunting! Some spectacular dens have been completed with plenty of woodland exploration too!

After an action packed afternoon the children have all been enjoying some time to enjoy their 'dorms' and a chance to get in some last minute practice for tonights 'Wymondley's Got Talent'.

Dinner is served! The pizza seemed to go down very well, but strangely enough there were a few vegetables left over...

Following a chance to unwind after dinner with the adventure playground, the open grass and some football, the main event of 'Wymondley' Got Talent' was enjoyed by all. There were many amazing performances to enjoy, from gymnastics to singing, miming to comedy sketches and much more! A big well done to all of our brave performers!

What better way to follow 'Wymondley's Got Talent' than a campfire and some toasted marshmallows! A wonderful way to end to a wonderful day.

After a good night's sleep, breakfast was enjoyed by all! Then it was off to prepare for a morning 'dorm inspection' and some time to relax before the days activities begin...

Lots of fun to begin Day 2 with a 'crazy nature hair' activity, which featured hair being created from a range of natural items collected from the very scenic area all around us...

The morning finished with a range of different sporting activities on the field for the children to enjoy. This was followed with the children having the chance to make their own sandwiches for lunch, which they enjoyed in a shady space on the field.

After lunch there was further den building, tree and leaf rubbings and some forest tracking in the woods. A gentle stroll back to our base brought two days of excitement, adventure and many happy memories to a close.

Thank you to Mrs Pearson and her wonderful team for making this amazing experience possible. It really couldn't have taken place without your good will, your time and your support.

  • MBDA Primary Engineers

    MBDA Primary Engineers Programme

On Wednesday four of our children from classes 2 and 3 were lucky enough to be selected to represent our school at MBDA in Stevenage for a celebration event. Over the course of this year both classes have taken part in an MBDA initiative whereby the children in each class, alongside an MBDA Engineer, created moving vehicles that had working seat belts (Class 2), or were powered by battery.

Our children took along their creations to be judged against those of other competing schools. There were two categories, one for each class, in which the vehicles were tested thoroughly and the children were interviewed on a one-to-one basis by the judges.

Out of all of the schools competing and against much larger schools, our children did amazingly well coming econd in both categories!

  • Walk to School Week at Wymondley

Fri 15 Jun 2018 Mr Plunkett

Walk to School Week at Wymondley

This week saw our annual Walk to School Week take place. Thank you to all of our parents for supporting the initiative so well and for encouraging your children to have a healthy start to their day. Thanks of course to all of our staff who came in early and gave up their time so that the event could take place and special thanks to Mrs Burningham for organising the entire week and being there to support the children each and every day. A very enjoyable week that we hope helps all involved to see the benefits of having a healthy start to the day.

  • Potato Growing and tasting!

    Potato Growing and Tasting!

After taking part in planting potato plants in giant sacks some weeks ago, the time had arrived for each class to to tip out their sack and find out how many potatoes had grown in each sack and which class had managed to grow the most! Congratulations went to Class 2 - but every child was a winner really, as Mrs Burningham (who had created and facilitated the entire experience from beginning to end for the children) roasted the freshly harvested potatoes for every child to try!

Thank you Mrs B for providing such a rich learning experience for all of the children!

    Rural Schools Athletics

On Tuesday our athletics team travelled to Ridlins Race Track in Stevenage to compete against other rural schools in a series of sprints, relays, long distance races, throwing and jumping events. Our children all seemed to thoroughly enjoy participating in front of a large audience and made the most of a wonderful occasion and experience. Our sprinters in particular seemed to enjoy running on a real track as they recorded a number of first and second place finishes. Well done to everyone who took part and represented our school so well!

  • Big Bright Sing

Fri 08 Jun 2018 Mr Plunkett

    Big Bright Sing!

Friday evening saw the first ever Big Bright Sing take place at Hitchin Town Hall. The whole thing was organised and coordinated entirely by the very talented Mrs Johnson - our very own music teacher. The event saw the choirs of three different schools (Wymondley, St Andrews and Cockernhoe), come together as well as an adult village choir and three staff choirs. The result was an amazing night of singing, as one parent commented to me, 'music is to the human soul what rain is to a flower, it brings us to life' and I couldn't agree more. It really was a memorable night. The performers were watched by a packed Hitchin Town Hall and they performed admirably. I was incredibly proud of both our school choir and our staff choir - You were all a real credit to our school.
