    Bikeability at Wymondley

Our Year 5 and 6 children took part in the first of four days of Bikeability training this morning. Over the next three days the children will learn how to ride their bikes safely, making sure they have good control of their bikes to ensure that they remain safe whatever challenges they might meet. As they develop their competence they will move on to preparing for riding their bikes on the road with traffic. This of course is a fantastic skill for life and one that will ensure the children stay as safe as possible on their bikes for many years to come. There were lots of smiles today and I expect those smiles will only grow as the week progresses - Well done and good luck everyone!

    NHSSP Sportshall Athletics

On Tuesday afternoon, at Fearnhill School in Letchworth, seven of our Year 4, 5 and 6 children proudly represented Wymondley at the North Herts School Sports Partnership's sportshall athletics competition. They competed against six other small schools in a series of field events including javelin, standing long jump and speed bounce, as well as track events including an obstacle relay and a two and four person relay. Our children competed bravely in front of many spectators and always gave their very best with a smile on their faces! A fantastic opportunity for all involved. Well done to every one of you.

A Visit from Mrs Joy for Class 1

Class 1 continued their learning about 'People Who Help Us' with a visit from our safeguarding governor, Mrs Joy. She talked to the children about her experiences working within the NHS and even brought along a life size replica of the human eye which the children all seemed to find fascinating! Everyone thoroughly enjoy the experience and the chance to learn from someone who has first hand experience of working in the National Health Service. Thank you very much for giving up your time Mrs Joy!

    Firefighters Visit Class 1!

On Monday, a fire engine came to visit us. It parked on our school playground and the firefighters came into our classroom. There were three of them. We found out that in a fire engine there is a mummy hose, a daddy hose and a baby hose as well as a mummy ladder, a daddy ladder and a baby ladder. Then we went outsde onto the playground to look at the fire engine. They let us look inside it, which was great and there were two more firefighters outside. We saw the siren and it went off, it was loud and it made a funny noise and it made us feel a little bit crazy! The firefighters also showed us their special tools for getting into cars and they showed us their yellow snow shovels. It was very, very good and I covered my mouth when the siren went off becuase it was so loud! I jumpeed when I heard it beep! Thank you firefighters for coming into our school and for showing us your fire engine and for telling us all about it!
