    Rural Schools Football

Our football team were in action at The Venue in Baldock as we took part in the Rural Schools football tournament on Wednesday. We played a series of group matches with wins, losses and draws and made it through to the semi-final, where we were narrowly beaten 1-0 by the eventual winners of the tournament. Considering we have a very young team this year, with the majority of our players being in Year 4, we did very well indeed competing against teams of Year 6's. Our team more than held its own and the future looks very bright.

    Pro-kick at Wymondley

Many thanks to everyone who generously sponsored children across the school for this years Pro-kick. Once again the afternoon was enjoyed by all with lots of smiling, supporting of classmates and enjoyment of the experience. A wonderful way to see out the half term and to raise money for good causes at the same time. It was lovely to see so many of our children taking part and so many of our parents and family members after school.

    Sewing Club

As you are all aware, we have made an increasing number of lunchtime clubs available to children over this school year and nothing shows what can be achieved through a lunchtime club like these sewing club pictures. Not only have the children created something to be proud of, but their confidence and sense of self-worth have improved and they have learned a new skill for life.

School Council Visits Houses of Parliament and Supreme Court of Justice

On Monday our School Council travelled up to London by train, with some children ganing their very first experience of the London Underground as we headed to Westminster and to the Houses if Parliament. Once there we were taken on a tour around the House of Commons, the House of Lord's and finally the Supreme Court of Justice by our local MP, Bim Afolami. It was a day full of interest and wonder that gave our School Councillors the chance to see where a future career in politics could take them. Many thanks to our local MP, Bim Afolami for taking the time to give us a tour, for answering all of our questions and for giving our young future politicians a fantastic experience.

    Christmas Carols at Needham House

On Monday afternoon, shortly after finishing school, our School Choir arrived at the Needham House Hotel. With many family members watching on, enjoying the complimentary mince pies and mulled wine, they sang a beautiful set of Christmas songs and carols to warm everyone up on a cold wintry afternoon. A wonderfully festive way to start our last week of school! Many thanks to Mrs Johnson for putting it all together. You can enjoy their amazing singing once again by clicking on the link below...

    Christmas Carols at Wymondley

    A Victorian Christmas

On Thursday evening our children from KS2 were in fine voice for our Christmas Carols at Wymondley. The children from Peacocks and Eagles lifted the spirits of all present with some wonderful performances of carols and Christmas songs while retelling much of the story of 'A Christmas Carol', with a few little twists. Our Choir performed songs for all to enjoy and it must be said that our audience of over a hundred people joined in strongly as well! A wonderfully festive event to put everyone in the Christmas spirit! Many thanks to our KS2 staff team for putting it all together and to Mrs Johnson for providing the live music all evening.

    Everyone Loves a Baby!

It was that time of year again when children from Puffins class and Toucans class joined together, dressed up in nativity costumes and took to the stage for this years nativity performance of Everyone Loves a Baby. With a morning and evening performance to contend with it was a long day for the younger members of the school, but how well they coped and how well they performed!

As a staff team, we were so proud of each and every one of them as they did so well conquering the nerves and performing their parts so very well! Many thanks to our Puffins and Toucans staff team for putting together such a heart-warming Christmas play!

  • Our new wood is on the map!

Fri 22 Nov 2019 Mr Plunkett

Our new woodland area is on the map!

The children were able to play a key role this morning in adding our new woodland area on to the official Ordnance Survey map. Although it is yet to be named, our new woodland is already a key part of our Forest School area and the school grounds and it is now officially a woodland area on official maps as well! Eco-Club members had a good time using the expensive mapping equipment as part of the process of mapping the area. Special thanks to Mr Watts for giving up his time to come in and make it all possible.

  • Football Tournament in Bushey

    Football Tournament in Bushey

Following a difficult run of results, our footballers were in action once again on Friday in a small schools tournament in Bushey. They were half expecting some disappointing results and following the first game, which we lost 3-1, they feared the worst... But the second group game was not a loss, in fact it was an emphatic 5-1 win!!! As we progressed to the next stage of the tournament it was followed by a 3-1 win and then a mightily impressive 8-1 win in the semi-finals! Then suddenly we found ourselves in the final and as the whistle blew for full time the two teams were tied at 1-1. In extra time we took the lead twice, but the score finished at 3-3. We ended up losing on penalties, but the day will be long remembered for some amazing performances, wonderful teamwork and some much needed and well-deserved wins! Well done to all of our super footballers!
